In order to acquire a medical marijuana card, a patient must have a doctor’s recommendation in writing that states the patient is suffering from one or more of the following ailments:
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
- Anorexia
- Arthritis
- Cachexia (Wasting Syndrome)
- Cancer
- Crohn’s Disease
- Epilepsy
- Glaucoma
- Hepatitis C
- HIV/AIDS
- Lyme Disease
- Migraine
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Muscle Spasms
- Severe/chronic pain
- Severe nausea
- Seizures
- Muscle Spasticity
If your condition is not listed above, you may still be covered by the Marijuana Medical Program of California (MMP). It states, “any other chronic or persistent medical condition that limits the ability of the patient to conduct one or more major life activities as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, or if not alleviated, may cause serious harm to the patient’s safety, physical, or mental health.”
